Carob Tree

Post: # 17600Post Wombat »

We have a carob tree in the front yard, must have been there for 15 to 20 years. Well in the last few days it has finally started to produce flowers!

Unfortunately, after a bit of reseach it seems that it is only producing male flowers  . Some are monoecious, others are dioecious by the look of it, seems I got a dioecious male tree!

bugger.....

I'd just give up and go to the shop and buy some chocolate if I was you!

When I was in Australia (back in those good old times when I was not quite as fat and unfit as I am now  ), they had those delicious carob frogs at the health food shop in Warrnambool... That's over 20 years ago and I still remember them!

Did I spell Warrnambool right - or is it one r?

so if you were to plant a female carob, you'd get fruit?
