Solar Cooker

Post: # 17693Post Wombat »

I have been playing around with a parabolic concentrating solar cooker made out of particle board and cardboard. It works quite well and will boil a litre of water in a bit over half an hour. I have made a few jars of tomato pasta sauce and was pleased with the results.

What did you use as the parabola? I've often wondered if car headlight reflectors could have uses like this, though a bit small for cooking with, maybe.

A bit small mate! I have thought and will try some mirrors afficed to the inside of a wok. I made the parabola by cutting ribs of the right shape from particle board and then gluing aluminium covered cardboard over them to form a dish. I need to post a photo, it is mauch easier to see than describe!
