Who have you inspired

Post: # 236553Post Susie »

Well Julie's inspired me for one, because this is inspired by the thread about the woman who is heroically trying to grow strawberries despite not really understanding how plants work  .

Have you inspired anyone to change their lifestyle/ do something different/ become more ish? I'm not sure I have, although my mother recently announced she's going to handmake and possibly knit all her Christmas presents because handmade things are better . I suspect this is dependent on me getting her the wool, looking for the patterns etc ;-) but I am appreciating the sentiment. My family also all try to shop local and they ring me up and tell me about their latest discoveries, there is apparently a man down the road who does very exciting pies and I feel quite a high degree of intimacy with this man as I have heard about his pies so often. I'm not sure I've drawn anyone else over to the Ish cause though. How about you all? Are we changing the world one strawberry plant at a time?

that's it ;-)

Wouldn't say inspire, but I have shared recipes, pointed people in the direction of this board, given potato seeds to a friend for her to grow, that kind of thing. The friend I gave pots too said she didn't know why but was quite surprised to see the plant pop up, she's not had much luck with growing things before.

I've tried to give a tomato plant to another friend too as they'd been super excited by the radishes they'd grown. Unfortunately, she hates toms so I've promised her home-made ketchup instead.

I have managed to inspire a few people at work to start growing their own food.Last summer I think they got sick of me going on all the time about how well my beans were growing or whatever(lol)and I think my enthusiasm rubbed off.Now I have to endure endless tales of their veggie antics,it is nice to hear though.

I hope I'm inspiring my kids to live an ish life!! They r currently loving it and I just hope as they grow up they will carry on.
I'd just like to add that my old farm manager Wilf Missing was one of the most inspirational people ever and taught me everything I know today about veg and livestock etc. He died 3 yrs ago and I miss him everyday. Xx

Well I think I might have inspired my boyf, who until we met was living a batchelor life in Bristol. Although there was a hint of promise...he had three dead tomato plants in a growbag in the overgrown garden. But I remember the joy on his face when he first dug up a potato - and the first egg!
Other than that there are a few people at work who have got the bug - not sure if it is just my influence though as it seems to be a growing trend generally in the UK (which could well be attributable soley to the inspiration from those on this forum, who knows?!)

I have helped my boyfriend plant his disused green house and some tubs in the garden with various edibles and we just ate our first cucumber last night OMG I never knew they tasted like that lol the ones in the shops (even organic) dont come close to the homegrown! Needless to say we will be planting in his garden even more next year.

I was thinking I hadnt inspired anyone to do anything really, but just the other day, someone said I had inspired them to get a grip on the clutter in her house. My own house and garden (all 3/4 acre of it) has been neglected in recent years. This year I was determined to get back on top of it and started by clearing an area for veg measuring about 20 feet by 60 feet. It had nettles and brambles growing in it at least 4 feet high  Still havent got anything planted in it yet, but it's a work in progress (and i have several tubs full of eatables too).

Add to that we want to move house in about a year (or less if we find the right place), so I do need to get on top of the clutter and general neglect in the house too. Set myself a 48 week target - to end at the start of May, by which time the whole house should be renovated, decorated, windows replaced where necessary and the garden looking like a garden instead of an abandoned piece of waste ground.

having posted that on a different forum, someone else said they were going to get their clutter sorted and that I had been the inspiration for that. So I guess I have inspired someone after all.
