Courgettes and AI

Post: # 24945Post Peatie »

My femaile courgette flowers are showing beautifully and ready to "go", but the males are a but slow to show (I know, I know!! )
Problem is I was going to do a bit of AI when the males were ready, but I'm going away for a few weeks. Will they pollinate naturally - insects etc?

Are they outdoors? In that case they should do fine... I've got a special variety for indoors growing that doesn't need insects for pollination.

It's strange though, that the females are there before the males - it's supposed to be the other way round (for obvious reasons), and so far it's always been like that on my plants, too.
