The Big Ask Campaign

If you know of a way to help save our planet, even just a small part of it put it here. Also if you want to ask how to help, or even if you want to promote your environmental organisation. All goes here.

The Big Ask Campaign

Can I urge you to have a look at the above website of the Co-op Bank.
In co-operation with Friends of the Earth, you are asked to sign an
email to your MP asking him/her to sign an Early Day motion requesting
the government to put proposals in the Queen’s Speech to curb CO2
emissions more vigorously. I feel sure that many of you will agree
that we are sleepwalking towards a disaster.
Thank you.

Sleep walking I think some people are running

This is one of the most successful campaigns run by FOE and something like half of the MP's in the house have responded. - Still worth wrting to your mp though if you have not already.

Thing is I just don't trust MP's, take the CONservatives at the moment and their new tree logo, what is that all about. Next they will be saying that Thatcher shut down all the mines for environmental reasons.

I always get the feeling htat they are screened by a secretary and that the MP never even knows about them never mind reads them but I always send them as I feel that it is the shear volume that causes things to be noticed.

Not something I can do - my MP is a Secretary of State so is prohibited from signing Early Day Motions. In this situation you have to write a bespoke message, stating your concerns & asking them to support action in Cabinet.
Otherwise you get a stock letter explaining why they can't sign EDMs, but nothing on the actual issue.

Same here! My MP is Margaret Beckett. :pale:
I do write individual letters to her asking her to support various matters in cabinet but I just get a bland, nothing reply - which is probably just a stock letter sent through her secretary.
