storm in the uk - did it get you?

Post: # 42777Post red »

spent most of the night worried listening to the really srtong gusts of wind, worrying about the slates on my roof - as its old an needs attention. how smug am I that it survived! pity next door's didn't - and about 5 slates landed on my car......

we also have a tree down in one of the fields.. so all that fencing we have been doing, needs a repair job. Bloomin ivy making a deciduous tree in leaf at wrong time of year.. no wonder it came down.

lots of firewood there though....

my little turbine loved it!
Quite a lot of wood down around here, but nothing major!

It was a bit breezy up here... but nothing too bad. Raining again now though.

We got woken up twice with the rain lashing against the window. It sounded as if there was a fire hose being sprayed up against it. Bits of wood blown off the shed roof, narrowly missing the greenhouse. Phew!

Montys pedal tractor was blown across the garden and it's quite a heavy one.

Still pretty gusty here this evening.
If in doubt ~ use a hammer!

We had worse wind about a week ago when the garden furniture was flying all over the place. Two branches of a multi trunked dead alder came down in our orchard (are are still sitting there  ). I'm a bit worried about the ones still standing because they are very tall and there's a risk that they'll smash my walnut tree - never mind the neighbour's barn roof or the fact they'd block the road if they fall the wrong way!!!

Really not sure how to get these removed - they are pretty rotten so nobody could climb up them to cut them down bit by bit - and I estimate they are about 20 metres high. :pale:

Apart from that, some high winds now and again are great for shaking kindling out of the trees!
