101 uses for old rubber gloves

101 Uses For is popular and let's hope it stays that way. Our second book is presently called 101 tips for self sufficiency; we will certainly dip into this section for ideas. So post away and let's try and get at least one thread up to 101.

101 uses for old rubber gloves

Post: # 43873Post Annpan »

Granted it is not all that green to use rubber gloves in the first place but I have very sensitive skin that can't withstand the change in temperature or the washing-up liquid. I have been collecting my old burst gloves for years, I am sure that there must be some uses for them...

1. Using 2 over each other (with holes in different places) and use as rubber gloves to wash your dishes.

2. Put over your head in a hilarious fancy dress cockrel stylee

Thats it...

We have in the past filled one with plaster of paris, let it dry, peel off the glove (wash so you can re-use it) paint the "hand" and use it to display rings and braclets, it makes a nice gift

interesting uses so far!

4. blow up into a novelty shaped balloon.

Rubber is a natural material at least... far better that than synthetic stuff.

Prick tiny holes in the tip of each finger of the glove and hand to your grand/children while in the bath. Hours of fun and while they're in the bath that long, soaks out all the childhood grime from knees and fingernails! (Takes you a while to mop up the bathroom afterwards though and be prepared for rude-ish comments about where milk comes from!)

Cut rings across the glove and use as rubber bands for bags or as plant ties. Bright yellow or pink is especially useful as you can see if the tie has become too tight as the plant grows or to check if the rubber is starting to perish. (Has a life of about six months in my experience).

Problem with the condom idea is that usually the gloves have holes in the fingers(hence why they are no longer used for the washing up), so not a very reliable method of contraception. Unless the seven dwarfs and their rude friends like to play russian roulette sex

Cut little bits out and glue to the bottoms of things like non-stick rubber feet.

When they've got tiny holes that let water through, use as gardening gloves or for other uses where waterproofing isn't important, such as for applying woodstain.

Cut the fingers off and gve them to the kids to draw faces on and make tiy little finger puppets.
