New member in Bosnia

Post: # 50067Post burek »

Hello
I'm from Swansea, in Wales, and moved last year with my husband and son to live in Bosnia. We own a house here and have an acre of land, which this year will hopefully go from being a bare field to being the start of a self-sufficientish plot. We run a language services company (English tuition, translation, final editing) and will be running a 4x4 green laning and photography tours company from this summer. The central Bosnian mountains are stunning and we want to help show them to the world - safely and respectfully!
The plans for this year are chickens (soon), easy veg, and a new orchard. We've been told by many that we we have a great plot for growing and we know that the land has only been used for grazing for the past ten or more years. We have three apple trees and about a dozen plum trees. We've never done anything like this before. My grandparents were very keen gardeners so I hope to follow their example.
Hope to be visitng the site and forum regularly for tips. Have already found plenty.

Hi Burek and welcome!

Lots of new people from interesting countries at the moment! It's great to hear how you do things and how you get on living in other countries.

Bosnia is really beautiful. I went to Medjugorje a couple of years ago, but unlike most of the crazy Catholic tourists, travelled outside the town. Absolutely stunning landscapes and history. Hope your project is a success. Grapes, pomegranates, walnuts? You are going to have such a great time!!

Thank you all for your warm welcome!
Glad you liked Bosnia, joholondon. It really is stunning. No pomegranates up here sadly - we are a bit further north and at a higher altitude than sunny Medjugorje - but there are walnuts galore!
Firelite - where are you visiting in the spring? Hope you enjoy.
