eeek! Ginger beer problem!

Post: # 54212Post the.fee.fairy »

i made some ginger beer last year, using on of those packs that you can get.

It was my first foray into homebrew.

I opened a bottle today...and soaked the kitchen! I thought maybe i'd shaken the bottle taking it from the cupboard in the shed into the house. I got 1/2 a pint out of a 1pt bottle.

So...i went back out to the shed and got another bottle and opened it in the garden. The same thing happened again! I've got the beer in Grolsch-style bottles, ad the second one took the cap with itn - its in the garden somewhere now!

So...any hints on how to get a good glass of ginger beer out of a bottle rather than two?

From what i can make out, it hadn't stopped fermenting when it went into the bottles, so its been fermenting all the time, and it is lovely and sparkling, and it tastes really good, its just a shame i'm losing so much every time i open a bottle.

Yep Fee!

I painted the inside of the garage with ginger beer once!

Cool them down a much as you can and open slowly, but for this batch it is difficult!

Glad i'm not the only one.

Looks like i'm going to have to open them all, drinks what's left and start again :(

Apparently Dad did the same with some pear champagne once, so i must be taking after him!

No, Fee. You're not the only one.

I had just finished decorating my brand new kitchen when my ex's home made red wine exploded all over it. Boy was I furious!

Silly me, though, I forgave him and let him carry on. He then moved it into the loft above the bathroom. Guess what happened when I decorated the bathroom? Yup. Red wine dripping through the ceiling.

I don't think I spoke to him for a week!
