Frogs, etc wanted

I am making a wildlife pond and am keen to introduce frogs/newt any pond life that might need a good home. I am hoping the frogs will eat my slugs. Does anyone have spawn or spare frogs etc, can swap for seeds or negotiate something else. Please bear in mind I am in Scotland.

I still don't really know if frogs have made it to my pond, I have never seen them. It might now be a bit too late in the year for spawn. Also I am not sure about moving frogs about, surely as they always spawn in the same place every year they might only survive one season if they are taken too far away.

Not sure as I don't know an awful lot about frogs, but it mught be that you will just have to patient.

Thanks Andy, since posting that earlier, I have discovered that it is not wise to move frogs and they should just appear. Fingers crossed, your frog will arrive soon!

I have found that it works if you move at the spawn stage. We had toads but no frogs for years then were given some tadpoles and have never looked back. I gave some spawn to my mother for her pond as I had tons and that worked too. I guess that if you move them early enough they dont know they have been moved.
However, a gent I know was trying to rid his pond of toads as they were eating his fish. He collected them up in a bucket and took them to the creek about half a mile away where he dumped them. After a week of dumping every night he worked out that they were coming home again. I wonder how far is the point of no return?

There is a pond in the neighbourhood which generally has masses of spawn to spare, but I also think it's a bit late for this year. Maybe come up to Aberdeen for a trip next spring if you still haven't got any frogs by then - but I'm sure somebody nearer by could supply some. Card on the board in the local shop, or something like that?
