101 things to do with one hand

101 Uses For is popular and let's hope it stays that way. Our second book is presently called 101 tips for self sufficiency; we will certainly dip into this section for ideas. So post away and let's try and get at least one thread up to 101.

Ooh sorry Possum, what's that about then? I am worried about the tendons in my foot as I seem to have damaged them pretty badly.

Anyway, to get the ball rolling, and assuming you can still write:

1. Go out for a walk and admire the scenery.
2. Hand write letters to your relos and friends in England.

Hi Possum. Sorry to hear that. I hope it heals soon.

3. Presumably you can still type so keep up to date with your friends at Ssish.

4. Practice one handed juggling.

5. I can't remember - are you a man or a woman? Well as this forum isn't x-rated I will leave this one to the imagination.

6. Learn morse code.

7. We have a guy who comes to our jive classes who only has one arm. He's a really good dancer so - learn to dance.

Well you didn't expect sensible suggestions did you?

possum is a girl.
walking unfortunately is a bit difficult as i cant tie my shoe laces on my own, i have a cast from just below the elbow to the tips of my fingers, so only the thumb is of any use. i can still type with one hand though.
Millymollymandy is you have just over stretched your tendons you should be fine in a few months (they do take a while to heal), mine was an accident falling over the kitten in the middle of the night and putting the back of my hand through a glass completetly severing one and damaging others, that was six months ago, yesterday they did a repair job, swapping spare bits of tendon about (apparently the body is convenient to supply you with spare parts). i should be as good as new they say and able to play the violin again.

That sounds nasty! Lucky you didn't sever your arteries! I wish you a speedy recovery and in the meantime get Mr Possum to tie your shoe laces, or put on your wellies.

Then hopefully only another month to go - bugger! :(

I hope you get better soon too!

Can you hold anything with the bandaged hand? How about learning to crochet?

Learn to tie your shoelaces with one hand (I had a one armed friend who could do this).

Learn to play the bass guitar like this.

12. (I think) Don't overtax your good hand, or you'll end up with tendonitis and you'll have tendon problems on both sides!

A tip for the shoe laces: have someone replace them with elastic cord for the time being.

Hope you recover well.

Oh how cool! I can't play anything so I'm always impressed by people who can. Good luck with the hand I hope it heals well.
