Pear Wine

Post: # 73678Post 9ball »

A pear wine recipe for the newest Isher!

Pears 2.25 kilos
Sugar 1 kilo
Juice of one lemon
Water 4.5 litres
Yeast and Nutrient

Chop up the pears, skin and cores included, saving any juice that comes out. Put them in a large saucepan with the water and any pear juice, bring to the boil and simmer for not more than 20 minutes. Strain this onto the sugar in a fermenting bin and add the lemon juice and nutrient. When it's cooled down to blood temparature put most of it in a demijohn, add the yeast and fit an airlock, keep the rest of the pear liqour in another airlocked bottle to add to the demijohn after the first very bubbly part of the fermentation is over. Ferment and rack off as usual.

Should make a nice dry wine - good luck!
Tom
