We love hearing from you, so here is your chance. Introduce yourself and tell us what makes you selfsufficient 'ish'. Go on don't be shy, we welcome one and all. You can also tell us how you heard about us if you like.
Hi, my names Karen and I'm on the Isle of WIght.
I've always wanted to be more self sufficient but this year I've really grabbed the bull my the horns and put my money (or spade!!) where my mouth is. I've 'trialed' lots of different veggies this year to see which would be most suited in my garden with varying succes but all enjoyed by my brood. We also have 3 hens-this took much convincing for my husband but he eventually caved in and said 'yes' So far he has no regrets.
As well as 2 veggie patch and 3 hens to look after I also have 4 boys ages 5, 14, 15 and 45 plus a menagerie of animals.
I've been around the forum a while now but I'm more of a reader that a writer of posts and I really enjoy everything here and I'm learning Soooo much from everyone. So far I've started a friendship cake, made my own laundry detergent and am considering the fat free choccy cake (not sure about the prunes but it's worth a try)
Anyway, I've prattled on enough, best wishes to all
Karen

I've not tried the fat free choccie cake recipe... but have done one with chocolate and carrots which worked out well. Having just checked the recipe I see that mine isn't fat free, but it is egg free. (handy for us now that the chooks have stopped laying!)
