A letter from Brightlingsea
Sunny Brightlingsea
Just thought I'd pop in and say hello.
We live in an old house (so far we've got it back to 1806, when it was too tiny tenements one up and one down) the house has been extended over the years and was a bit of a nightmare renovating, but well worth while.
We added masses of installation to the loft, dry walled (with thermo boards) every external wall, and replaced all the floors (some where concrete) with reclaimed 7 inch lap boards in Pine.
My trusty old wood burner, from our old house has also been installed and is the main source of heating. It also goes without saying that all our lights are energy efficient, as are all my electrical and gas appliances.
We had installed a new condensing boiler, which is about as efficient as we can get. There is one slight problem it is difficult to run solar panels on combination boilers, but it is a problem that I am working on. I know the answer really, is to get a water cylinder fitted. Space is of a premium here.
Well that's about it I've got a couple of questions to ask elsewhere on this forum. Apart from that, I'm looking forward to spending time searching the site

What a wonderful response, thank you
It’s good to know that there are so many people out there with similar interests.
Milly
Brightlingsea is a tiny town near Colchester, in Essex. In fact, I believe it's the best kept secret in England.
Brightlingsea nestles between the junctions of the River Colne, Brightlingsea Creek and the sea, It is almost an island (in fact used to be an island many many years ago) there is only one Road into Brightlingsea, and you must use the same road to leave by.
Caroline (my wife) and I have been sailing into Brightlingsea for a countless number of years. And decided six years ago to move here permanently (best movie we ever made). We were fortunate indeed to find a house that we fell in love with.

, in fact sailed as far as the Channel Islands, but never quite made Normandy.
