Re: Have you ever read a book more than once

I often dip back into books I have already read. I re-read Joan Barfoot's Gaining Ground every couple of years (woman leaves husband and family and sets up in a remote cottage, growing veg, chopping wood ...), also Susan Cooper's The Dark Is Rising which is set at Christmas time and is ideal for whe...

Well done! I was itching for them to mention the book - could see it on the seat next to them. So, did someone offer you a series?

Just a thought. Could someone record it and stick it on YouTube? I have no idea how these things work, but just know the rest of you are far more savvy (she said, cranking up the 405 lines black and white TV set).

Hi Fee Fairy Hope that the Bank Holiday weekend (I'm presuming you don't have to work) gives you some time to relax away from all of this. It's an unpleasant situation and I know I'd be feeling much the same as you about it. Exclusion is horrible. I think I'd definitely try the jokey approach to it ...

Found a crab apple wine recipe in an ancient Marguerite Patten book if anyone wants it. It's a long haul - 12 months before you can drink. Aaargh.

Same here, really. Actually, friends are thoughtful, giving us first dibs on things they are upgrading, alerting us to the possibilities for salvage, swapping, etc., but we could do with some who are more actively engaged in veg gardening and making things. Richard works in recycling, so doesn't sta...

Oooh! We've got a fair number of crab apples (after all I said elsewhere as well, about having very little in the garden this year - ooops). Have you made crab apple wine before? Can you point me in the direction of a recipe?

We still have a big sign that says "leap of faith" which I made to greet Richard at the station when he came home after giving up his full-time very well paid job 7 years ago now. We look at the sign from time to time and it reminds us of the life then (commuting, long hours, no time toget...

Can you change the worm to days to the next one?

I need all that time to re-vamp my wardrobe, find things to decorate the tent, etc.

Do you mean the company that used to operate not too far from us in East Sussex? Close to that difficult road junction? I'm being careful not to name any names!
