Re: spud sprouting in tyres
hello again!
I would think that from what you say, you should be able to chuck the 2nd tyre on top & then fill that with soil..."earthing up" style.

Re: purple brocs
hold tight there Andiewill!! Your brocolli won't be ready for harvesting 'til next year.(late winter),& they'll need plenty of room in the garden.....approx 2 ft all round. Harvest the shoots when they are about 6" long. They also freeze very well. good luck.

Pigeon Pilferers
Our veg patch is under constant attack from Woodpigeons(bless 'em). We've got strips of tinfoil strung up, along with most of our C.D. collection! We've even got a Ned Kelly look-alike scarecrow with a bright red T-shirt (don't ask),however,as soon as our backs are turned, the little darlings form a ...

Re: Garlic
Hello Mew, They say "plant garlic on the shortest day,& harvest on the longest day". Best to harvest when 2/3 of foliage has turned brown & fallen over, then hang to dry in a sunny location. We found that a good way to dry them, was to pop them in the oven(as it cooled down),after co...

Re: Whats up with my toms...?
Hi Mew, Looks like you could have leafmould(not you, personally),are these toms in a greenhouse? Is it possible, they've been overwatered.I have found, that taking the "rose" off a watering can,& directing the water directly onto the plant roots is much more beneficial(not too late in the ...
