Thanks that's brilliant!
Will pot them up today then. TBH even they don't survive, I didn't lose much - they were those cheap ones from Lidls!

Fruit trees in pots?
Hey.
Have bought some cheap fruit trees today but am wondering if they will survive in pots over winter and until June when I move house?

Re: 2007 and 2008 top three and worst three crops

Re: Fruit at Lidl
So am I right in thinking that what some of you are saying is that fruit trees will survive in pots?
I want some fruit trees but am in a similar position to a poster above where I am not living in my own home and will be moving next year - but pots would be ideal...

Re: Unripened Pumpkin recipies
I tried this with a semi-ripe one that snapped off its stem - the bit that wasn't ripe did ripen but the bit that was already ripe went mushy and I had to throw a lot of it away. Now a bit nervous they are just going to go bad rather than ripen.

Unripened Pumpkin recipies
I have four unripe pumpkins of varying sizes - one is massive, one medium sized and two small. They have been green for ages and show no signs of ripening. I have looked on the internet to see if I could find anything that I could make with them and all that is suggested is pumpkin pie. I did howeve...

Re: Pumpkin snapped off stem
Glad I'm not the only one with small butternuts! lol  Good news is the pumpkin that's been on my window sill since the weekend, after today's day of full sunshine is already nearly all orange! Yay! Been told I have to still leave it for a while to 'cure' before I try to eat it - is that ...

Re: Pumpkin snapped off stem
Boo! :( That's really annoying. I don't suppose you can make anything out of small unripened butternuts and pumpkins?! What do I need to do next year to stop this happening again? Or is it wet weather related? I followed the instructions on the seed packet - is it worth planting them a bit earlier t...

Re: Pumpkin snapped off stem
Ah thanks for this. That's a shame - I was hoping some of the smaller pumpkins and butternuts would continue growing as they really are quite tiny. I read somewhere else that you can leave the pumpkins on the vine and protect them from frost with polythene - does that work?

Pumpkin snapped off stem
So, today I went to my veg patch to 'turn' my pumpkin as I had read to do this on a website to stop it getting a pale base...and it snapped right off the stem. :( It is almost two thirds orange but near the base it is still green. Will it ripen completely? What can I do with it to help? Unfortunatel...
