But having said that its still tricky with family, do I ask for money, do I offer money, do the groceries I bought make up for the petrol they used getting to the airport. Generally I make up fo...

Re: Reasons to be cheerful Pt. 1
To cheer myself up I always think of the stack of crocheting, knitting and quilting projects on my great-grannies old bureau next to the comfy armchair covered in lovely warm throws and cushions, and get back to it as soon as possible with a nice cup of tea.

Re: Men and Money!!!
I would say yes, younger people in general are poorer at managing money, were neither taught too or encouraged too, but in relationships it does seem to be the guys who are less responsible. I think they find it difficult to lose the habits of a high disposable income while living at home when they ...

Re: here we go again.....

Your right to refuse to get into debt. I too have been dreading Christmas, its so hard to join in with such things, traditions, ...

Re: I love a bargain, what did you buy today??
Not today, but I recently bought a full length cashmere wool mix coat from Oxfam thats in really good condition. Thank goodness as I was dreading a cold winter without one and highstreet costs are just crap polyester thin things and still really expensive. My supermarket rarely does absolute bargain...

Re: Where to live
My dads on a state pension and has always rented privately, since retiring his rent has been paid through a mix of housing benefits and pension credits. However when he went to move last, due to the landlord selling, he found it very very difficult to find somewhere to rent as none of the estate age...

Re: Should I get a freezer?
We have a freezer because it came with the flat but I'm so tempted to get rid of it, we barely use it and must be costing a lot to run as I doubt its energy efficient, also its space and thats at a premium in a flat. It is useful for storing the odd mark down or leftovers, but I wonder how much this...

Is giving up, giving up
I've put a huge amount of pressure on myself to achieve over the last few years, in part I can thank myself for it as I have a very modest income and home out of it, but on the flipside I'm constantly feeling like a failure, suffering from status anxiety, and my depression and eczema have both retur...

Re: Removing Garlic Skin
I've got a technique of slicing through the bottom of the clove and pulling up so that half of the skin comes off in one movement and the other halve can just be flicked off with said knife. But yes there little worse then going to sleep and smelling raw garlic trapped under your fingernails.
