Re: Let's talk Lady Birds.

I had to interfere last summer - the beans in the back garden were literally covered with blackfly and greenfly but the ladybirds had only made it as far as the roses in the front garden! I decided to move them to the bean banquet as they didn't seem to want to move :dontknow: My beans were clear wi...

Re: Natural Hair Dye

Like most of my family I started going grey in my late teens so colouring my hair was a way of life. Until I started getting very unreliable results a few years ago! Even light golden brown shades were coming out virtually black, not a look which suited me in the slightest, so I decided to grow out ...

Re: Essential oils as fragrance

Lol I know the feeling - I'm having trouble making a lotion that doesn't separate. Not the end of the world as shaking it before use mixes everything together but it's frustrating!

Let me know how you get on with the solid perfume

Re: Essential oils as fragrance

I've never tried it but I was given this recipe for solid perfume: 1 tbsp of beeswax pellets 1 tbsp of almond oil 15 drops of essential oils (single oil or combo) Put the beeswax and almond oil in a bowl over a pan of boiling water. When the beeswax has melted mix the EO's in. Pour into small jars a...

Re: first signs of spring....maybe?

I can't WAIT to see some colour in the garden after so much white stuff! So you got excited about snowdrops? I know, daft, eh? But after looking out the window on a white and grey world for the last few weeks that little promise of spring is priceless :flower: Daffs next, then the tulips :che...

Re: why pay to flush it away ??

We went for the low tech option - don't pull the plug after a bath and fill a bucket to flush the loo with it. Works for us

Re: first signs of spring....maybe?

I found two snowdrops in the back garden on Sunday and was so excited I screamed

It's not much and it's still soooooooooooo cold but for me it was the first sign that spring is coming and I can't WAIT to see some colour in the garden after so much white stuff!

Re: Essential oils as fragrance

I love essential oils! For what my friends pay for one of their chemical smelling designer perfumes I can buy a lovely assortment of oils and do endless combos

Re: Essential oils as fragrance

I do but I don't use a carrier oil as they don't last long on me - I use vodka instead and the fragrance lasts ages. My fave combos are: Lavender, orange and patchouli. Basil, clary sage, fennel and lavender. Lemongrass, fennel, patchouli and grapefruit. Sandalwood, patchouli and frankinsense. The p...

Re: Favourite essential oil

Green Aura, that's exactly how I feel about most perfumes - they smell fake and chemical to me and after a morning at work surrounded by various different designer fragrances my head is throbbing :dontknow: My current obsession is lemongrass but I always go back to sandalwood - I think that is my al...

Re: Favourite essential oil

I add a few drops of orange and patchouli to the washing - I prefer it to the smell of fabric conditioner.

I sometimes make my own "perfumes" - one of my fave combos is fennel, clary sage, basil and lavender. It's very fresh and "green" :flower:
