Re: Worst job ever
Telesales for a burgler alarm company - cold calling, commission only. Didn't make a penny :( Had one particularly stroppy bloke tell me that he was going to complain to my boss for calling him so I said to him "I'll tell you what you can do with your complaint - STICK IT down on paper, SHOVE ...

I'm back after a bit of a hiatus
Hello Ishers! We didn't garden much last year and life continually got in the way of coming here, but I just wanted to say I'm back and we are planning an epic garden for the year! We're quite excited! We have 3 garden sites and a green house (that is going to be more of a coldframe than a true gree...

Re: How tall are you?
My Mom was 5'5" and my Dad 5'9" so I always thought I'd be 5'7". It seemed logical to me when I was a kid. I was quite disappointed to be shorter than both of them. *sigh* I'm actually 5'3" and frankblues is 6'3" so we are curious about what may happen to our daughter (who i...

Re: weird and wonderful quotes
I always enjoy my signature. And just about anything by Douglas Adams or Robert Heinlein. He attacked everything in life with a mix of extraordinary genius and naive incompetence, and it was often difficult to tell which was which. Douglas Adams There is a theory which states that if ever anybody di...

Re: Advice needed for pregnant daughter
I did hypnobirth here in the states. I think one of the big reasons there are so many different kind of breathing techniques is that they are trying to get your brain busy and focus on something besides the contractions and just let your body do what it knows how to do. I LOVED doing hypnobirth for ...

Lovely! We just added a trike to our family as well! Since hubby is a Stay-at-home-daddy, he can go top the park & do errands with our daughter! He really really loves it!

Re: P.E bag, beachwear and sock monkey oh my
I've done lots of hats and scarves. I did a sweater once, but the arms came out sort of, well, let's say the person I made it for did not have arms down to their toes and leave it at that.

Love them all, but especially the PE bag. Was the jumper knitted or crocheted? I am a crochet-er, but can't tell the difference very well because I'm not a fabulous crochet-er or anything!

Re: Mom feeds family on $4/week. [video]
Until our veggie plot started producing, I managed to feed the two of us on organic, local stuff (plus cleaning prods etc from the market) for £200. Now that the garden is being more productive and we started rearing our own meat, our food budget is a bottom-pinchingly tight £100 - mostly on things...
