Re: Anderson style
OP I see you are NZ Sheeps wool? (Thanks for the flat worms by the way) LOL I'm not kiwi, originally from the UK. Wool would be too expensive I think unless we bought a flock of sheep. And I don't really want to do that as we breed Arapawa goats and have a donkey so that's enough livestock for us a...

Re: Anderson style
Thanks for the replies  I think straw bale is a good option inside but it takes up a lot of our valuable space .... maybe we could find a way to halve the bales so we still get the insulation value but reduce the area it takes up. We thought maybe if not straw bales we could maybe make ...

Hi there, Long time since I visited here .... loads gone on. So we are selling our 10 acre block and buying another, temporarily we will be living in Anderson style shelters that we will be making out of grain silos. We heat our house with wood, we have our own pine plantation for firewood and also we get free wood from my hubs work. I've also planted willow to use for burning and some to weave with.

Re: Cling film green house
It lasted the whole year and then we recovered it again the following and it worked really well. But now we've turned it into a shed and put corrugated steel sheets on it to keep our meat rabbits in.

Re: Oh do stop moaning
Come to NZ, I find every day is uplifting and optimistic here ...I really hate moaners, it makes me uncomfortable and I feel sad. My husband is like Victor Mildew and as he gets older he gets worse, good job we don't see much of each other lol. I will wear a bangle to remind me not to moan but as a ...

Re: Substitute you for my......
Also we have a very productive veggie garden, the season has been sh t this season in NZ but we've had loads of lettuce obviously and spring onions, bok choy, and zucchini/marrows. The corn has not rippened or the tomatoes .... we had loads last year but this year has been awful. Garden/ pod peas we...

Re: Substitute you for my......
I still cook from basics old jerry, and bake loads. In NZ I find everything expensive in the shops and supermarkets so doing the old fashioned nana baking day is the only way we have survived and kept my children happy

I hung a cd in the veggie garden six months ago and it's totally ok, no change at all!

Re: and thats why i love physics!
I must be like one of those Victorian folk who thought if you went too fast in a moving vehicle you would pass out. I am suspicious and wish folk would stop messing with stuff we don't understand ... maybe when they open whatever door they've been trying to understand, we will all get sucked into it...

Give me good old british tv any day, but I think if I had i sky I could get rid of the commercials but am not willing to pay the extra to do this. I don't really watch a lot anyways, am us...

Re: Does anyone NOT have a television?
I miss British tv sooooo much, it seems so sober and sensible compared to the mindless rubbish aired here in NZ.
