What I thought of Lush

I can smell a Lush store from several blocks away - the smell makes me feel sick and there is no way I could venture inside.

i love lush, i always get lots of lush stuff for birthdays and xmas, especially when they do their made up boxes of products

Bluemoon I LOVE their Go Green range. Well...I've only tried the solid perfume and I think it's GORGEOUS.
Doesn't smell like pine at all. More Bergamot and Neroli. Each to his (or her) own I guess.

I am curious hedgewitch, how do you get such a huge discount, and yet never go in the shop?

I usually get given lush stuff as gifts, it is OK but I prefer really natural stuff - I buy soap and shampoo from the farmers market and it is lovely natural stuff they sell.

I do buy the hair dye from lush, it washes out but stays put on blonde hair longer and it sticks, but fades on grey hair.

i used to be a huge lush fan,until i fell pregnant. i couldnt stand any strong smells and lush used to make me heave. it was at this time i started to stop using chemicals and i suspose i have got used to not having strong smells, cause i still cant stand the place now. in fact my fave body wash is ollie's greenpeople organic lavendar baby wash....it is so lovely and delicate smelling and leaves my skin so soft.

Annpan LUSH started in my home town of Poole in the county of Dorsetshire. I am lucky that my brother has worked there since the very beginning (of LUSH, not time) and that is the staff discount he gets, which he so lovingly lets me abuse. Oooh and me and my mum get lots of freebies too.

Where were all these different products? What were all the piles of slabs of sludgey coloured stuff - soap? There seemed to be very little in the shop in terms of different products!

they are very ethicall..paper bags no plastic...a great incentive scheme for recycling,,,bring your bag back to reuse i think three times you get a free product...

they have a massive range of products from shampoos to hand creams..bath bombs to bath melts

Believe me the shop I went into had one tiny section with a few bottles, an enormous display of doughnut bath bombs, a big display of packaged gifts, and some shelves with slabs of sludgey coloured stuff which I assumed to be soap.

How anyone can tell what is supposed to be shampoo or cream I don't know, cos I didn't understand the place or what anything was as only the bath bombs seemed to be labelled!

I too find Lush stores a bit too heady in the smell department but would recommend their henna hair dye bars. One bar keeps my wanton grey hairs at bay for a around a year (just reapply when new roots grow. I'm not a big lotions and potions fan but would recommend the henna bars if you want to dye your hair but not pour harsh chemicals on it. I know you can buy henna online and make your own mixes, but the Lush bars are really easy to use and leave your hair and scalp in good conditions. Luckily for me, if I'm running low I can just get a visitor from the UK to bring me a bar so I don't have to knocked out by any superscents .

So am I right in thinking it's a permanent dye then? I stopped dying my hair a couple of years ago after several years of hair abuse! The thing is my grey is coming thru quite a lot so it would be nice to cover it up - but I didn't want to use chemically stuff and I'm not very good at the touching up the roots thing! So how easy is it to use? Or can it just be a temporary dye? And how do I know which is the right colour? My hair is naturally very dark - but if I dye it my natural colour I look ill! Ooooooo - it's all so confusing and scary!

the henna is great hun and it comes in about four shades for specific hair..ie black brown blonde and auburn....if you go on the lush website it explains on there...tip though if you want a strong colour leave it on over night....

but DO NOT try and strip any henna 'cos peroxide makes it stronger, and never use a chemical dye until the henna has grown out.
