blackfly and ants
blackfly and ants
Pesky ants are farming blackfly on my Angelica, mint, catmint, naustuartiums, lemnonbalm, um, ALL my herbs except marjarom and sage. Even the lovage! Anyone recommend a way to get shot? I pinch out tips but it doesn't stop them. Do I need to locate the nest and kill the ants?

Re: blackfly and ants
someone told me that ants dont like talcum powder...whether that shaken round the base of the plants would work?
It worked in my house but they were not farming blackfly there! Hope someone will have a more reliable suggestion soon for you

The cockerel makes the noise, the hen produces the goods!! anon

Spray with a mix of washing up liquid and garlic paste on the underside of the leaves. Reapply as needed.

Re: blackfly and ants
Put a saucer of jam out for the ants as they will be more interested in that than the aphids then hopefully the ladybirds will get in there!
