blackfly and ants

Post: # 203171Post sheridand »

Pesky ants are farming blackfly on my Angelica, mint, catmint, naustuartiums, lemnonbalm, um, ALL my herbs except marjarom and sage. Even the lovage! Anyone recommend a way to get shot? I pinch out tips but it doesn't stop them. Do I need to locate the nest and kill the ants?

someone told me that ants dont like talcum powder...whether that shaken round the base of the plants would work? :dontknow: It worked in my house but they were not farming blackfly there! Hope someone will have a more reliable suggestion soon for you

Spray with a mix of washing up liquid and garlic paste on the underside of the leaves. Reapply as needed.

Put a saucer of jam out for the ants as they will be more interested in that than the aphids then hopefully the ladybirds will get in there!
