Saw link on Tracy's Downshifting Week site, having heard her on the radio.
Viewed the forum for a while, before deciding I just had to join in.

Same here - we can`t all have the rural paradise - in fact there wouldn`t be room for everybody to have a SS smallholding - but we urban and suburban SSishers get the same respect and friendship here.

Hope there is room for country skint types :? Think i was lookin at woodburners online & ended up at Downsizer & then found ssish, decided to join ssish as there seemed to be lots of other folk from aberdeenshire & stony across the hill from me. Also ssish has a freindly vibe & sense of humour. Oh i can put up with a few non aberdonions  A.

I posted an ad on FreeCycle for a pond liner for my duck pond. Shirley replied asking for referrals if I got too many replies. We got blethering (like you do) and she had the SSish URL in her signature, so being the nosy besom that I am, I came for a peek and stayed.

I still haven't given Shirley her pond liner though

I found this place because it was mentioned on another forum (a home ed one)

I stay because i can ask naive questions, and be excited about small things... like growing something new for the first time.. without being put down by others.
Sorry I'm not really urban..... can't help it... this is where i live!

can' remember, but it feels like home now..

I think i did a search on google for something, can't remember what.
But i came onto the forum, posted some ramblings about beer, and people were nice to me...and they answered all my stupid questions (i'm sure there's some more to come too).

So far i have been prompted to make jam, cakes, bread and wine. All except the jam came out well...but the people gave me great ideas for what to do with the wrecked jam, so it was all good again!!

I got here via A.N.Other forum where someone made a very snide comment about the Forum here at SSish so I came over and had a look for myself. I actually prefer it here to that Other one so  to them.

I don't post a lot here as I moderate on several other forums and run my own websites forums and blogs too - thus computer time is quit hectic!!
I enjoy sharing my knowledge and inspiring others to have a go t things it's great fun.
Have met some nice folks on here too.

Gidday

Well I was searchin for a forum with more indepth answers. By the way I always search with Answers.com and have it as my home page as well because it is easier to use and gives wider results.

When I found ewe jokers I saw that it was truly international and some really good advice and thought I might be able to contribute too. Had a hellava job joining though and along the way lost my name as well, well almost but what the hell.

I think the thing that really made up my mind was the thought of some of ewe jokers creepin about at night to get some pee on your peas, when the Yanks nearly had a fit at the thought of me using fresh poo on me puds.
Cheers
Jack

I dunno who started this direct depositing stuff... but it is getting scary now... Please, please, please don't tell me you are one of those Kiwi's who bare their bums in the paddock!!!
