My joy and enthusiasm for the rain was not shared by my more mundane colleagues this morning.
However the ground has now had a good soak in sustained steady rain
Hopefully we'll get some more, it's dried out for the time being. Also seems to have had a good impact on the river too.
Better double check the gutters and get water butts installed.

This morning I took off some more of the small polytunnels I'v been using. I'm not entirely convinced how much good they do and they get in the way of natural watering via rain and also my slug-hunting. Certainly the plants in there are now large enough to survive without them - it would be tragic to have them die of thirst when there has been plenty of this glorious water falling from the sky!

Oh you lucky people. All we had was very strong wind and a lovely big elm tree was fallen this morning. It had just missed my dear ancient apple tree plus several other trees by cms........ and the house!
It was so close to the house it could have done some really serious damage, not to mention it would have come pretty close to me in bed during the night!

Still, lots of nice free firewood!
