I've just re-registered after months of lurking

I'm trying to live a selfsufficientish kind of life here in central France - moved here 4 years ago with my fiance (we're getting married next month). We are still slightly tied in to the old ratrace finance industry which we used to work in, but have managed to cut it down to a minimum so we can live frugally but happily, spending lots of time in our veggie patch, fighting weeds and bugs most of the time but occasionally growing some food.
We have nearly an acre of land altogether, a few walnut and fruit trees, a few kinds of berries, herbs and asparagus. I like a challenge so I try and grow some of every kind of vegetable as well, this year has been quite disastrous and we have no tomatoes, they all went kind of mouldy after all the rain, and blackbirds have eaten all the currants and blueberries, but I'm optimistic that next year will be different!
Anyway, thanks for having me, hopefully I'll see you around...
