Good website, now becoming a regular source of advice...
Lived in the north for over two years, lived in a wee house in Berkshire, now have a rather larger place in 4 acres up here.
Um...now acquired chickens, mad jack russell, old Fergie Tractor and implements.
Still full of daft questions but learning!
Started to grow some veg this year with some success (turnips/potatoes/onions) but we are all turnipped out now. Planted rhubarb, raspberry canes, gooseberry bushes (got enough for 1 pie this year!), and about 150 trees of various types.
Had an amazing crop of docks as well but they are slowly being beaten
Next year will be scaling up the veg production and will have more room for storage.
The climate and growing season are rather restrictive sometimes!
For the future? Well continuing to improve drainage, make a garden, more fencing, maybe a polytunnel, maybe a small wind turbine eventually
(but seems a lot of money at the moment!)
I do have a day job which gets in the way of progress sometimes! But a necessary evil I suppose.
