Gread thread this, I had forgotten about it so I had to have a good read through again.

I am growing my hair out now so I don't look as glamourous as that photo (I really am not very photogenic which is why I let that photo be seen and not any other one  ) - anyway you can't see the wrinkles and I look younger there! (and by the way I have mousy brown hair)

I really ought to change my avatar as poor Ginger has had a moult since then and has a tail these days!

MMM as some of you know is a series of books about a little girl called Millymollymandy written in about the 1930s I think.

I'm glad to hear how Chadspad and The Fee Fairy came about as I've wondered over those names!

Thomzo I like your nickname! It is great seeing photos of people!

Well my avatar is Errol our peacock, possum, well I needed a change of user name from other forums and before I came to NZ was planning on making possum slippers and possum pie, except we seem to be one of the few places in NZ that doesn't actually have possums.

My Avater is a photo of me camping while on the west highland way, at Kingshouse at the opening of Glen Coe. It is the rest after we crossed Rannoch Moor, the most beautiful day that we had (we were lucky with the weather) and the day before we crossed the Devils Staircase, not as bad as it sounds, but that day we were unlucky with the weather and we were soaked through by the time we reached Kinlochleven.

I'd suggest to anyone to do the west highland way, it is the only holiday that OH and I have had and it was wonderful

Annpan is what my big brother calls me (when he is in a big cuddley, cosey, I luv my wee sister mood- when he is in a bad mood he calls me very rude bad names indeed :( )

I only showed a rather horrid photo of myself camping on here, so heres a better one (which is rather amazing for me as I tend to take an awful photo!) of me and my son on the big wheel on hols

Should also now say the new avatar is a castle we visited on holiday too. It stands 800m up and the lady at the kiosk had said it was very windy at the doorway hold onto my son. She werent bloody kidding! The wind was ferocious and I just froze hanging onto a wall for dear life. Can honestly say, I have never been so scared before!

It's interesting looking back to the start of this thread, not least because a lot of people have changed their avatar since they described it. That makes it nostalgic for those of us who have been around a while and probably extremely confusing for newer members of the site!

Here is the picture I have been using as my avatar for sometime:

It is an early stage of the experiment I did in 2006 of growing tomatoes upside down, inspired by discussion here. To be honest, it was not hugely successful but I did get some good basil plants going at the tops of those suspended containers.

And, for any wondering what I look like, I'm not shy. Here's a self-portrait which is one of my current favourites and it links to more pictures of me than you are likely to want to see!

Jacks right! We Aussies tend to go for opposites and if you have red hair your nick name was more than likely "Blue". Doesn't happen so much these days though.....

Well Jack, someone has to keep you worries, so it may as well be me!

Wulf you are right - it's lovely to look back.

It's also great to see your faces folks.... and I promise I'll look out a photo of me that won't scare you to death - second thoughts... I won't promise because it might be too difficult.... I'll try hard.

My current avater is the logo for the neeps forum and my user name is fairly obvious really - my name is Shirley and I get called Shirlz for short. Better than some of the names I get called at least.

I'm a bookish person hence my avatar.
My Online name is a bit of an odd story, my great dane is called Jarmara the name comes from a confession that Mathew Hopkins (The Witch Finder Genral) tortured out of Poor Elizabeth Clark.

"Her confession alledged that she kept and nourished five familiars, Holt - a white kitten, Jarmara - a fat spaniel, Sack and Sugar - a black rabbit, Newes - a polecat and Vinegar Tom - a long legged greyhound with a head like an ox, broad eyes and a long tail."

(see this link if you want to read it all )http://www.hulford.co.uk/matthew.html

Also Jarmara Black is my pen name for my poetry

At present, I'm using one of our means of transport. Yes, it is used year round, it's very wet and cold for the stoker (moi), and the boys love it. We can transport up to 100kg in the front and another 25kg on the back, so with a trike weight of 50kg and a stoker weight of 80kg, that means my poor old legs have to move 255kg up some fairly steep hills with only seven gears...

No wonder I'm called Stonehead!!!
