REALLY easy sock pattern?

Post: # 82713Post gigglybug »

Hi All

Can anyone recomend an easy sock pattern, I would love to make my own, but all the patterns I've seen involve 3 needles, I think I need to work up to that.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Amanda

You usually need 4 needles, but that is how you knit it in the round... otherwise youd have a flat sock :?

I've never done it though... ina will be along in a minute I am sure

I always knit them with 5 needles - and believe me, that's the easiest way! At least it gives your fingers room to move...

4 needles is easier than it seems.. really

the creative living forum has a how to knit socks guidethat is great.. really simple with lots of pictures . it uses DK wool - so makes thick chunky socks from everyday yarn. a really good place to start

but be warned.. once you made your first pair of socks.. you are addicted..

Is there an easy crocheted sock pattern anywhere?

I'm not much of a knitter, but a hook and a ball of yarn, and I'm happy.

I have done this bit

Knit back and forward on these two needles, 1 row plain, 1 row purl (you could just do garter stitch here, if you don't purl, it will just look different)
for 14 rows in all to make the heel flap - one part of the sock will now be longer than the other:

Then when I move onto the next set of instructions, and it goes haywire.. should I be working on the constant stitches or the longer flap. I look just like this emoticon ... when I think of teh stuff I have knitted and this is just making no sense...

Next is turning the heel; follow these instructions, and it should work fine. Slip the 1st stitch without knitting, knit 18 , slip1, knit1, and pass the slipped stitch over it. Turn your work, slip the first stitch and purl 10 stitches, then purl 2 together. Turn, slip the first, knit 10, S1 K1,psso, turn. Keep on like this until all the stitches are used up, and you have made a little heel:

The rest is easy going - just don't get carried away and knit too long a foot!
