I've been a member here for a few years, but I've hardly been on for the last 2 years since meeting the hubster and all that 'that' has entailed

We are in many ways the luckiest people alive (we think) we met 3 years ago and had the same outlook and dreams

Due to his health we live month by month, we couldn't believe our luck when late last year we saw a small cottage with a bit of land, chickens, pond, fruit trees, stream etc etc, we never imagined we could find something like it in our price range in a location where we can both continue with our current jobs, close enough to his hospital and close to our families.
So we've overstretched and bought it, it comes with many problems and many many learning curves, I'm trying to create a garden/ envirnment where every plant is useful be it for eating, herbal, burning, animal fodder etc...current and ongoing...
I've patched the greenhouse together with mirrors, perspex and old cut up conservatory roof
We've so far lost 3 chickens over the hedge and 1 to a dog

But on the upside the chooks have become very healthy and happy with lots to do since I moved in, plenty of interest
I crochet, paint, sew (badly) do homebrew and make anything edible the hubster is having a go at metal and woodwork
The house is black inside with mould and is slightly falling into the stream, boiler is bust and fire doesnt work

The rubbish and junk left behind by the previous owner is unbelievable but i'm finding amazing uses for it
My first peas are in the ground, hedges are cut back (in Jan) new hedges planted and some seedlings sown
We are building our first huglekulter bed and have found excellent clay so hopefully an earth oven will get built
Goddammit we're happy and we're living everyday as fully as possible, planning slowly and hopefully for a future
I saw a quote today which summed it up although it extends to more than gardening...
"Gardening is a way of showing that you believe in tomorrow"
Anyway, rambled a bit, but HI
