Seedlings
Ok, so I have some seedlings in my kitchen window. Zukes (courgettes) and Toms .. The toms were planted by my hubby and they are in a tiny newspaper made pot but the plants are crowded. All plants are about 2 inches high but in dire need (in my opinion) of being moved. I don't know if I should repot...

Clara, Yes you are correct. It was my first attempt so wasn't sure how to describe it other than soft or like cottage cheese. It was a very simple recipe. Simply cream and some lemon juice to cause it to curdle. Then I seperated the curd using a muslin cloth and discarded the whey. I let the bundle ...

One of the kid's dresser drawers fell apart on the sides and bottom and after a few futile attempts at keeping it together it was put in the reuse section outside our backdoor. Yesterday, hubby removed the bottom and re-attached the sides so its drawer shaped frame wise and put it outside in our gar...

Our household has seriously cut down on plastic bags. The bonus of using a pram to go to the shop keeps me more in line/controlled as to what I buy as space is limited in the basket underneath. One thing I enjoy is the self checkout. I like the idea of scanning the items myself and just getting in/o...

Trying to be handy .. cheese/butter
I followed a few online recipes for very basic butter and home made soft cheese today. Personally, I think both came out fine. However that said, I have a few questions which I couldn't find the answers for. 1) Regarding home made butter. I did put a bit of salt on it and enjoyed the taste. How long...

What time of year do they bloom? The flower seems alot more distinctive to me than the leaves. I wandered out yesterday, found some bluebells but no garlic at least I didn't detect it but noobie and first attempt so who knows. On the upswing so a lovely group of ducks and geese so the day was all in...

When my now 16 year old was in the UK equivalent of Year 4 (I lived in the US at the time). I decided to homeschool her. It was a wonderful year for us and at the end when we had to submit her portfolio for evalution by the education authority we received glowing comments. Unfortunately my (now) ex-...

Saw one of Jamie's earlier Naked Chef shows yesterday while he was up in Scotland .. he didn't have a pestle and mortar so he used a bowl and the end of a rolling pin. Now I thought .. see that's something i have in my kitchen so perhaps one day in future I'll use that rather than run out and buy so...

Well we can't really afford holiday accommodation prices. I've tried searches on - farms for rent - homesteading, hobby farms, small holding, renting rural, renting in country, etc. I either seem to come up with land for rent (I want some land we can also live on) or a huge farm which we can't affor...
