Re: Gardening mags anyone ?
I love Home farmer, and Grow Your Own and also Permaculture magazine. Home farmer is really good for cooking and building things and animal husbandry. I like GYO for reminding me when to sow and plant what. PM is really interesting and different, and covers green issues if you are interested.

Re: Compost Dalek suggestions
Hi Sarah,
We have just done the same thing with our daleks and built new bins from old pallents, we are using one dalek for leaf mulch and the other one for storage. The rhubarb forcer sounds a good idea, never though of that!

I have rather a lot of celery, it was only supposed to be a few plants but they all germinated and grew really well! Does anyone know if you can freeze it? I can't really eat anymore celery soup. Any recipes welcome? Thanks

Re: Yogurt
I have been making yogurt for many years now and have tried various methods and milks and have found long life full fat milk mixed with milk powder and yogurt to be the best method, I don't have an airing cupboard so use a yogurt maker from lakeland, that is really just a plug in thermos. Re: Preserving pears
Many thanks to all of you who replied, I am going to preserve them in jars for xmas, using the recipe Jim has posted. It is the second year of fruiting so not too many, just need to let them ripen up a bit as very hard.

Re: Preserving pears
Thank you very much Jim, it sounds lovely. Do you think I should wait until pears ripen as they are all rock hard at the moment? Thanks Rachel.
