Several evenings later (much searing and throwing of crochet hooks lol) I finally managed it with the help of a video on YouTube.
Well... as it's cold lately and probably likely to be colder in the new house until we get to grips with the heating and what not I decided (I must be insane) to make a huge snuggly blanket for sitting on the sofa with OH so I broke out my stash and got to work.
I'm making a huge 63 square monster of a blanket in pastel colours and each square is 10 x 10"

Anyway, so far so good, I used up all the pale blue yarn and am now onto the pink yarn and boy is my hand aching... 8 full squares and another square which is one row short of full size (must remember to put pale blue yarn on the shopping list) in 3 days... actually my right hand is swollen up tonight

I've never pulled of something this huge before so it's going to be my main, pet project for... well... probably months!
If I don't post for a while I will be trapped under an avalanche of granny squares... please send help LOL!

Apart from a funky hand I'm feeling pleased with myself
