DEATH BY CHOCOLATE
Organic ingredients
8 oz (225 g) Green and Blacks dark chocolate (72% stuff)
140g butter
1 cup (210 g) sugar
4 eggs
4 heaped tablespoons (1 dl) all-purpose flour
4 tablespoons Green and Blacks cocoa powder
1½ teaspoon baking powder or 1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 tablespoons sour cream or creme fraiche
Filling and topping
About half a big bar of Green and Blacks chocolate of your choice
1 large tub of whipping cream
Method
Melt butter and chocolate together in a bowl over hot water.
Cream sugar and eggs together. Add flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and vanilla extract.
Fold butter and chocolate mix into this.
Line 2 x 9 inch cake tins with greaseproof paper and divide mixture evenly between the two. Bake in a moderate oven until skewer comes out clean (in my fan oven @ 160-170 for about 20 minutes).
When cool, slice crust off and eat it while making filling. Which you do my melting the chocolate over hot water again. Whisk cream until forms stiff peaks.
Use half the cream to sandwich the two cake bits together and whisk the choclate into the other half and smear all over the top of the cake. Decorate with grated chocolate and a dusting of icing sugar.
To eat
Smother with double cream and enjoy with a nice mug of tea and a mate
