Re: trick or treat

We live in a quiet close with few kiddies, but we still had some strangers knock on our door last night, I knew they were kiddies cos I'd heard them earlier on. We ignored the knock. As far as I am aware there is an unwritten rule that if you are lit up and/or have a lit pumpkin in the front window/...

Re: How Do You Like Your Meat?

Cooked through and falling apart preferably! All these adverts on telly showing pink beef, turns my stomach, urgh, my hubby says cor that looks great, whereas I tend to shout at the telly 'take it away and COOK It, don't just show it the oven in terror, cook the bleddy thing!!!' Can't bear underdone...

Re: Farewell Big Bob

Like others have said Mrs H, our words won't make a lot of difference, just remember you did the responsible owner thing, and Big Bob is in pain no more. We had to do this last year for our lovely Pip. Think of Big Bob's funny little habits and the feel of his fur, and remember him with love. Hugs Nix

Re: Mouth Infection

Sorry you've had such a dismal time of it Sue, and glad the antibiotics are working. I would still keep the appointment, because my abscess shifted itself away from the nerve and my pain eased, but it was still there - after several courses of antibiotics it was reduced, but my dentist still had to ...

Re: A Foraging we did go

We didn't use the rowan berries and haws in the end, I've never used them before, and as we didn't have enough of everything else we needed for the recipe, we did other things instead. So we now have 5 3/4 wee jars of bramble and elderberry jelly, and a jelly bag of spiced cider and apples on the dr...

We got ours from Dundry Nurseries near the airport, if that helps

They were Nicola and Charlotte varieties, and WW means Staverton/Gloucestershire airport, not the one near Kemble, by the way

Re: what are you harvesting?

We've just cropped all the apples off our tree, and I've got 3 big carrier bags full sitting in the kitchen waiting to be dealt with, plus we've got 20 tubs of stewed apple in the freezer, we used some in beetroot chutney, and more in damson and apple jam, and we gave 2 big carrier bags to a friend....

Damson and Apple Jelly (cheese)

Hubby and I made some of this lovely stuff earlier on. Yesterday we went and foraged for wild damsons, they grow in the hedgerow nearby, luvvly jubbly. We picked just under 5lbs of them, and after picking over and losing the dodgy ones, we had 4 and a half lbs. Peeled cored and sliced 6 eating apple...

Greetings!

Hello from me and my hubby WhiteWolf, from sunny and rainy Gloucestershire (weather is changeable today!) I found this site by Googling for a Beetroot chutney recipe, and liked what I saw so we both joined. This year we have started to grow vegetables in our small back garden, we've got a lot to do ...
