I'll second Red's comment. It would be especially good if an emphasis was placed on 'how these things that can't be recycled in the conventional way CAN be used in your self sufficientish lifestyle'. So things like drilling holes into the bottoms of large paint tubs, old buckets etc and using them a...

It's a good idea, and something which I try to do, to an extent. Things like beans (French and runner), peas, lettuce, tomatoes, salad/spring onions, beetroot, radishes, cabbages are all ideal candidates. You will find it impossible, or difficult to do with some such as cucumbers, courgettes, melons...

It does seem a shame. Could you not take the spawn out and keep it in a tank until the tadpoles hatch, then release them back into the pond? I know that the fish will still be a problem then, but if there are small hiding places (lots of pebbles and rocks) for the tadpoles to hide in, some should su...

If you just want annuals growing there, and useful ones at that, why not have a mixture of runner beans, French beans and lablab beans? Others to grow are nasturtium and sweet peas. For more permanent, but less useful plants, clematis, wisteria, virginia creeper, honeysuckle and jasmine could be use...

It's the only one I can think of with crocodiles in it... Two vampires wanted to go out to eat, but were having a little trouble deciding where to go. They were a little tired of the local food in Transylvania and wanted something a little more exotic. After some discussion, they decided to go to It...

I have no idea about freezing them either. It isn't something that I'd do as onions store well. Typically, I sort my onions into groups of small, medium, large and 'for immediate use', and then hang them in net bags from the beams in our loft. The ones for immediate use go into tomato soup which is ...

Gidday Can you still buy sheep's or pig's heads or is everything like that been squashed. You can buy pig heads here, though I've not seen sheep heads. I don't like pork, but understand from a few Brits here that pig cheeks are the tastiest part of a pig, so it does seem a shame to waste them. Jack...
