13 My last two houses had concrete buried under a hands breadth of humus and leaf litter.

I'm in Florida. If we say spring greens it's a blend. It could have mustard, savory, cress, beet tops, turnip tops, radish tops, spinach and dandelion in it. I'd suggest you identify just what it is you like about what you call spring greens and then select a packet accordingly. So radish tops would...

Keeping yourself warmer will keep the heating bills down. I wear a hat and socks to bed when it's cold outside. Wear clothing in layers. Having a camisole under your t-shirt really helps, or two pairs of gloves or socks. Any activity is warmer than sitting still. *Except when you are under covers. T...

Scented wax in particular can make a good potpourri. You just chip it into bits for the dry stuff, and either add it to old potpourri or clean new material. Or, you could melt it in a simmer pot for releasing the scent. Stubs with no color can be melted for use in batik dye projects. A stub is good ...

I'm a water baby. I always take a couple of old plastic milk jugs to beaches and rivers. At least one will have plain water in it for rinsing off feet or found treasures. Others have scoops cut out retaining the handle so I can collect shells or stones or seed pods. Empty capped milk jugs are used b...

Open it all up and splash in a bucket. Some or all of the alcohol will evaporate off after a few hours. Use the rest on the compost or scatter dumped on the garden, with water for a chaser. Lots of nutrients in it.

There are some homemade garden sprays that use beer.

I homebrew, and I've made wine. I've ruined very little brew, but maybe 10% of the wine. All of the tossed stuff could be attributed to less than stellar quality control in the process. If everything is squeaky clean, and you use all the tools available to modern home brewers and winemakers, you sho...

I grow it in my florida garden. I may try crystallizing some when I harvest in a few months.

Usually, I'll try a different recipe for ginger beer, and slice some ginger up in sherry to keep in the fridge.
