Transition Town Training

Dear all, I've started Transition Town Finsbury Park and am organising some training in a couple of weeks. There's a few places left so please get in touch with me if you are interested (tt"at"jo.homan.me.uk). May East from the Scottish community, Findhorn, will be running the training wit...

solar panels and existing central heating

Thanks for this, but I don't really have time to become an expert myself - though I'm quite happy to learn a little. What I really need is answers to specific questions! I approached a company called Smart Energy but they said it's not possible to wall mount the solar panels. And they also wouldn't ...

solar panels and existing central heating

Dear all, It's been a while since I've visited and now I need your expert help again! I'd like to replace my dodgy old boiler (c. 20 years old), with an efficient condensing boiler and solar panels. I don't know if anyone else has done this? Two questions: - how does the solar system fit in with the...

I've decided I'm going to make up a new version of the story!
Yes the Forget Me Nots are flowering here in London right now. I hope they keep on going until Monday week, when I'll actually be doing the thing in my son's nursery.

Quite a sad tale that.
I'm sure I heard a different version. Something about someone actually being turned into a Forget Me Not. Some kind of punishment.

Forget Me Not

Does anyone know the story of how Forget Me Nots got their name? I've just done a bit of googling and come up with nothing, but I know there is an associated tale. (I've offered to do a storytelling/flower pressing thing at my son's nursery.)

Hi Louise, I hope you weren't offended by my email. I am definitely much less ignorant about Slovenia after reading your email! What I meant about water shortages is that there's a perception that many European countries, particularly those around the med, are affected by awful water shortages. I be...

Sorry Hedgehogpie (you have the best U Names), slight delay in the reply there. I intended to take a look at INEBG but I can't seem to grab a moment, but I will ... Thanks for your help. Still not sure about how to draw the chicory leaves. Some Google images show them with massively indented serrati...

Bristol Vegan Fair - June 9/10

Is anyone going to this? http://www.bristolveganfayre.co.uk/home.htm
If so, you can get double rooms for around £50 at the Ibis hotel ...
I've been looking for an excuse to visit Bristol for ages. Has anyone been to this event in the past?
Cheers,

Bosnia is really beautiful. I went to Medjugorje a couple of years ago, but unlike most of the crazy Catholic tourists, travelled outside the town. Absolutely stunning landscapes and history. Hope your project is a success. Grapes, pomegranates, walnuts? You are going to have such a great time!!

Good luck with all the growing stuff - I saw there was some useful-looking anti-slug stuff on the main Self Sufficientish site.

Hi Louise, I took a look at the site as well - crazy indeed! It sounds like a really exciting project. I enjoyed seeing a few images of Slovakia in that show 'The Long Way Round' with yummy Ewan McGregor. A different pace of life, technology etc. I take it there's no water shortage issues - now or p...

Thanks moonwaves. It looks like his might be just for heat, but am not sure. I've had a look at Wikipedia ('biomass gasification' and 'gasification') and it's pretty involved. I suppose what I really want to know is if what I want, this super-efficient offgrid CHP unit, is ever going to be available.
